Outaouais Tourism

How we helped Outaouais Tourism review their performance evaluation/contribution assessment process.

Outaouais Tourism/Appreciation of the contribution

Outaouais Tourism is a non-profit organization comprising some thirty employees whose objective is to promote the Outaouais region and its economic tourism growth.

The issue

Having worked with EPSI on several previous engagements, including an engagement survey, we voiced our interest in a more structured process with updated documentation.

The existing process was conventional, involving 3 annual objectives set at the beginning of the year, with each one broken down into performance indicators. A self-assessment followed by a meeting with the manager to discuss their assessment, which in turn was tied to a salary increase.

Employees were looking for more consistent feedback and a more uniform process for all employees, given that each assessor or supervisor had their own rating system.

The approach

  • Ongoing feedback combined with an annual assessment
  • Added competency development component
  • Integrated solution (quantitative + qualitative)
  • Training for managers in feedback and competency development

Outcomes

Employee and manager engagement

Improved employee satisfaction

Aligning the work force with organizational and human needs

Continuous communication to facilitate timely corrective action when necessary
