Ilssont, en outre, confront\u00e9s \u00e0 des p\u00e9nuries de main-d&#8217;\u0153uvre et cela est d\u2019autant plus vrai pour certains secteurs d\u2019activit\u00e9s en particulier. Pour combler ces p\u00e9nuries, les employeurs doivent de plus en plus avoir recours \u00e0 des bassins de main-d&#8217;\u0153uvre provenant des populations immigrantes.<\/p>\n\n<p>Or, l\u2019int\u00e9gration de celles-ci ne se fait pas sans heurt. Afin de nous \u00e9claircir sur le sujet, nous nous sommes entretenus avec monsieur Robert Mayrand, Directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral du SITO, un organisme vou\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9gration des immigrants sur le march\u00e9 du travail. Monsieur Mayrand \u0153uvre dans ce domaine depuis plus de 10 ans maintenant en plus de poss\u00e9der un Ph.D en \u00e9ducation. Il a notamment occup\u00e9 plusieurs postes de gestion dans des coll\u00e8ges et a anim\u00e9 de nombreux ateliers en communication interculturelle et diversit\u00e9 culturelle. Il est donc tr\u00e8s au fait des difficult\u00e9s rencontr\u00e9es par les immigrants lors de leur int\u00e9gration dans le march\u00e9 du travail et des d\u00e9fis auxquels sont confront\u00e9s les employeurs.<\/p>\n\n<p>Selon monsieur Mayrand, la plus grande difficult\u00e9 rencontr\u00e9e par les immigrants, lorsque vient le temps de s\u2019int\u00e9grer dans un nouveau milieu de travail, est de communiquer efficacement en fonction de l\u2018auditoire. En effet, les id\u00e9es, les valeurs et les croyances sont tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rentes et c\u2019est d\u2019autant plus vrai lorsque l\u2019on provient d\u2019un pays plus \u00e9loign\u00e9 de notre nouvelle terre d\u2019accueil. La barri\u00e8re de la langue est un autre \u00e9cueil \u00e0 consid\u00e9rer si l\u2019on ne ma\u00eetrise pas encore bien la langue du march\u00e9 du travail cibl\u00e9. Les immigrants doivent donc faire des efforts consid\u00e9rables pour s\u2019adapter \u00e0 un tout nouveau mode de communication qui n\u2019est pas n\u00e9cessairement identique \u00e0 celui de leur pays d\u2019origine. Notamment, ils \u00e9prouvent beaucoup de difficult\u00e9 dans la gestion du temps. Le fait peut sembler anodin, mais le Canada doit composer avec quatre types de saisons diff\u00e9rentes ce qui repr\u00e9sente une adaptation particuli\u00e8re pour des populations immigrantes qui sont habitu\u00e9es \u00e0 vivre avec seulement deux types de saisons. Pour certaines cultures en particulier, ils doivent \u00e9galement mieux assumer leurs faits et gestes puisque les modes de fonctionnement de leur march\u00e9 du travail ant\u00e9rieur \u00e9taient forts diff\u00e9rents.<\/p>\n\n<p>Il n\u2019y a pas seulement que les nouveaux arrivants qui doivent modifier leur fa\u00e7on de faire toutefois. Les employeurs ont une grande part de responsabilit\u00e9 afin de favoriser les conditions optimums qui aideront ces gens \u00e0 mieux int\u00e9grer le march\u00e9 du travail nord-am\u00e9ricain. L\u2019employeur ayant sa propre culture, il doit donc \u00eatre mall\u00e9able pour modifier sa vision d\u2019un nouveau march\u00e9 du travail plus int\u00e9grant et plus flexible. Il doit, lui aussi, apprendre \u00e0 communiquer en fonction d\u2019un nouvel auditoire. Les notions de tol\u00e9rance et d\u2019ouverture d\u2019esprit sont donc davantage sollicit\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n<p>Cependant, monsieur Mayrand nous met en garde contre la propension qu\u2019ont certains employeurs de vouloir jouer les missionnaires qui veulent \u00ab sauver les immigrants \u00bb. Ceux-ci doivent\u00eatreconsid\u00e9r\u00e9s comme des employ\u00e9s comme les autres et les accommodements ne devraient pas faire partie int\u00e9grante de la nouvelle r\u00e9alit\u00e9 du march\u00e9 du travail. L\u2019employeur doit d\u00e9finir clairement ses attentes aupr\u00e8s de ces nouvelles populations de travailleurs.<\/p>\n\n<p>Pour pallier au choc culturel v\u00e9cu par les nouveaux arrivants et \u00e0 une nouvelle vision dont les employeurs doivent faire preuve, monsieur Mayrand sugg\u00e8re d\u2019instaurer des programmes de pr\u00e9paration \u00e0 l\u2019emploi de m\u00eame que des programmes linguistiques. Ainsi, les immigrants seront plus pr\u00e8s culturellement face \u00e0 leur nouveau march\u00e9 du travail et l\u2019int\u00e9gration sera d\u2019autant plus facilit\u00e9e.
